To ensure that the game of soccer is enjoyable for all participating, the Hastings Soccer Club has developed the following Player Code of Conduct. It is intended to honour the Club's Constitution and help provide a positive and respectful learning environment for all participants. The HSC is committed to developing the players' character as resourceful and responsible members of their community through the game of soccer, as well as their physical, social, and leadership development. Please take the time to review it with your child.
As a Player, I will: ü Train and play to the best of my ability; ü Win without boasting; accept defeat with dignity and class; ü Have a positive attitude and never quit; ü Respect officials and accept their decisions without question; ü Give only encouragement to my fellow teammates; ü Demonstrate good sportsmanship; ü Attend and be prompt to all games and practices; ü Respect the playing field and leave it as I found it, including taking my water bottle, recycling, and garbage home with me; ü Respect myself, my coach, teammates, officials, and opponents; ü Learn and obey the laws of the game; ü Notify the coach or team manager if I will be late for or unable to attend a game or practice so that alternate arrangements for additional players may be made if necessary; ü Wear the appropriate attire for practices including socks, shin pads, shoes, t-shirt, and athletic shorts (not jean shorts or skorts); ü Immediately report any injury to my coach; and ü Learn the rules, policies, and procedures of the Team and Club.
I will never: ü Engage in dissent directed toward an official; ü Leave a game field or practice without the permission of my coach; ü Participate in excessive and irresponsible horseplay; ü Make excuses if my team loses a game; ü Use rude or vulgar language; ü Forget that I represent the Hastings Thunder Herons Soccer Club and our team sponsor.
When a player is not on the field in a game situation, they are expected to sit on the sidelines, watch the game, and encourage their fellow teammates in a positive manner. If a player's behaviour is unacceptable, they will not be allowed to continue playing in the game or participate in a practice.
PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO REVIEW THIS EXPECTED CODE OF BEHAVIOUR (AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF NOT FOLLOWING IT) WITH YOUR CHILD PRIOR TO THE START OF EACH GAME/PRACTICE.
