Hastings is located on Highway 45, 42 km (26 miles) north of 401 and 144 km (90 miles) from Toronto and has a population of 1,000 with a full range of services. The Village of Hastings is nestled in a valley at the mouth of the Trent River and Lock 18 of the Trent-Severn Waterway and boasts the wonderfully-equipped Hastings Village Marina.

Hastings on the Trent is the gateway to Rice Lake, the second largest lake on the Trent system.  Since 1614, when Samuel Champlain is said to have navigated this historical site, to 1820 when the town was named Crook's Rapids, and onward to today, people discover abundant wildlife along our 1500' greenbelt marina and picnic area.  Watch for Great Blue Herons, muskrats, and beaver as you swim at our public beach.

Relax on the 70' waterfront deck at the new municipal marina and stroll along the waterfront promenade; a great place to dock large yachts and give the feet something to do.

If you are in need of more to do, there is 5-pin bowling, century homes to enjoy, pontoon boat and jet-ski rentals, or just stock up on supplies at the Luzzi's Valu-Mart, Home Hardware, LCBO, Brewers Retail, or local pharmacy.  You can even catch up on your banking or laundry.  Why not check on your email with free internet access at the marina?  Chat with our veterans at the Legion and relax awhile or visit the local library and Ontario Early Years Centre at the Civic Centre at the top of the hill.  We also have many beautiful churches that are very active in the community.  With 60 kilometres of lock-free open water, Hastings is a great choice to stay overnight -- or dock your vessel for the season!
